The record was achieved by BBC Local Radio Stations which hosted the events in partnership with Arts Council England. The BBC Local Radio Big Dance Class took place at 12h30 on 22 July 2006 and was choreographed by Luca Silvestrini. The youngest successful participant was 3 whilst the eldest was 97. Highlights of the events were broadcast in a BBC One TV show hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Zoe Ball.
